Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, said Monday that his colleague, Tennessee Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen, should apologize to a conservative activist who testified on the “Heartbeat Bill,” The Washington Times reports.

During a hearing for the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice on Nov. 1, activist Star Parker testified that abortion should not be classified as a health welfare program as she claimed Democrats often do. Cohen called her “ignorant,” and the exchange became heated.

“Our witness, that we had invited, was being attacked,” Gohmert said on Fox News this week. “And my friend from Tennessee, as we like to say, he was demanding an apology from her after what had been done to her and her community. My word, the apology should’ve gone the other way.”

Parker wrote an op-ed released by The Tribune-Democrat on Monday in which she wrote that Cohen approached her after the hearing and demanded an apology.

“After the hearing, he approached me, put his finger in my face, and told me to come to his office and personally apologize to him,” she wrote.

“The only apology I have to make is that I do not have more opportunities to testify against the distortions and damage caused by liberals such as Cohen.”
